Water Bucket Relay

Kids love relay races, and at the beach, the old egg and spoon race can be replaced with a water bucket relay. Give each child a plastic cup, spoon, or large shell and have them run to the water, fill their carrying implement, and race to empty it in a bucket.

Blow a big one and then watch it as it floats in the wind down the beach towards the ocean; then take off running in the opposite direction when it starts to pop.

Hide little surprises inside the bubbles like toys or pieces of candy, then challenge children to capture their favorite bubble treasure.

“Parachute” Games

A big, soft parachute for indoor or outdoor play; beach towel made of polyester and cotton; large size and bright colors make it fun for kids of all ages; a great way to keep kids active inside or outside.

Beach Ball

So you don’t have an entire field of sand or a pool of water available for playing? Then get creative. Place your lawn chairs about 15 feet apart and place a beach ball in between them. Choose a player to stand behind each chair, brings the beach ball, bounces it on the ground, and toss it to the other side; if you have enough players, alternate positions. The goal is to see how many back-and-forths you can complete without dropping the ball.
